Pedro Almodovar’s Strange Way Of Life is coming to Netflix in April, after debuting last year: more on the release here.

Pedro Almodovar has – of course – a hugely impressive filmography behind him, from his breakthrough film Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown to more recent successes like Volver, his highest grossing film worldwide to date.

His most recent release was a half hour short film entitled Strange Way Of Life, his second short to be written and shot in English following 2020’s The Human Voice.

The synopsis reads as follows:

A man rides a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. 25 years earlier, both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as hired gunmen. Silva visits him with the excuse of reuniting with his friend from his youth, and they do indeed celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not to go down the memory lane of their old friendship…

Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal headline the film, alongside Jason Fernández, José Condessa, Pedro Casablanc, Daniel Rived and Erenice Lohan.

Almodovar wrote and directed the film, which received a limited run in cinemas before being released on a limited edition Blu-Ray exclusive to HMV, which is now out of print.

Almodovar’s next film will be The Room Next Door. According to Deadline, John Turturro, Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton, and Alessandro Nivola will star. No plot details have been released, but it will be Almodovar’s first feature film to be written and shot in English. Production is expected to begin shortly, there is currently no release date, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.

Strange Way Of Life will be available to stream on Netflix from 12th April.
