StudioCanal will release a 4k restoration of the Nicole Kidman-starring thriller The Others just in time for Halloween.
Alessandro Amenabar’s The Others is something of a modern horror classic. Nicole Kidman stars as Grace, the mother of two children in 1945 Jersey who are waiting for their father, played by Christopher Eccleston, to return from the war. The children have a strange affliction wherein they cannot be exposed to sunlight, so all windows, curtains and doors must be kept shut at all times. When three mysterious servants appear, Grace begins to lose her grip on reality.
The film is a masterclass in tension building, with a rare straight role for comedian and writer Eric Sykes.
