Saw X hits cinemas in September, and the synopsis has given us a few ideas what to expect.
In 2004, James Wan and Leigh Whannellās
Saw kicked off a franchise that dominated horror cinema for almost a decade, with each Halloween bringing a new instalment of terror and torture.
Jigsaw moved the franchise forward with a few ties to the past, while
Spiral was an attempt at a soft reboot.
It has been known for quite some time that series stalwart Tobin Bell is reprising his role as John Kramer/Jigsaw in the upcoming
Saw X, alongside Shawnee Smith as his troubled apprentice Amanda. The big question is how?
We now have an answer, as Lionsgate have released a synopsis, which reads as follows:
Set between the events of Saw I and Saw II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.
Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
Bell and Smith star alongside Steven Brand, Synnøve Macody Lund, Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Joshua Okamoto, Octavio Hinojosa and Michael Beach
Kevin Greutert, who served as editor from
Saw to
Saw V, directing
Saw VI and
Saw 3D, directs from a screenplay by
Spiral writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.
The release date had also been brought forward by a month,
Saw X will now hit cinemas on the 29th September.
You can see a first look image of Bell (again) in
Saw X over at
