Taskmaster series 17 | Channel 4 confirms airdate

Taskmaster will return to Channel 4 on the 28th March, and a new trailer for Taskmaster series 17 has landed.


Taskmaster has run for a whopping 16th series and several Champion of Champions specials since 2015, according to the British Comedy Guide, the 17th series is due to be broadcast this month.

The line up for the new series is as follows:

Comedians Joanne McNally, John Robins and Sophie Willan, Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed and The League Of Gentlemen’s Steve Pemberton.

And it doesn’t stop there. Not only can you buy Taskmaster clothing, books, a board game via the official store, a few weeks ago, it was announced that the show was being turned into a VR game by indie developer Scallywag Arcade – it’s due out in 2024 for Meta Quest 2 and 3. You can add it to your wishlist on Steam now.

There is also set to be a fifth series of the New Zealand version, which features Jeremy Wells as the Taskmaster and musical comedian Paul Williams as his assistant. You can now watch the first three series of Taskmaster New Zealand on 4OD – it is well worth your time.

In other Greg Davies news, his BBC sitcom The Cleaner has recently been renewed for a third series. The show, adapted from the German series Der Tatortreiniger, follows Davies as the titular crime scene cleaner, as he deals with a litany of unhinged residents, odd encounters and bizarre crimes. Each episode features a different crime scene and a different guest turn. These have so far included David Mitchell, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephanie Cole, Simon Callow, Harriet Walter and Zoe Wanamaker, amongst others. Guest stars for the new series have not yet been confirmed.

Servies 17 of Taskmaster will air weekly on Channel 4 from 28th March.
