This is a news story that’s hardly a surprise for anyone reading it. Christopher Storer’s kitchen comedy-dramaThe Bear is set to end after season 5, which is currently in production.
The reason I say it’s not a surprise is because at the end of season 4 – SPOILER WARNING! – Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy announced he was going to leave Chicago.
Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Carmy’s mother, seems to have accidentally leaked the news when she posted a photo from the set on her own Instagram account two weeks ago.
“FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with. Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear,” she captioned the post. Oops.
Deadline has then confirmed the story with their sources.
When The Bear premiered in 2022, it immediately became a huge success, thanks to its hectic mix of humour and drama. It has made White and his co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri into massive stars and the future is looking very bright for the entire cast. White has previously stated that the original plan was to end the series after season 4, but we’re lucky enough to spend a little extra time with our favourite chaotic chef and his family and colleagues.
During its first four seasons, The Bear has earned a whopping 21 Emmys to its name and we’re still trying to recover from watching the season 2 episode Fishes.
Season 5 is currently in production and is expected to reach our screens later this year. We’ll keep you updated on that.
