Director Troy Duffy plays to turn The Boondock Saints into a a trilogy, with news that The Boondock Saints 3 is on the way. If you’re looking for a quality documentary about the making of a film, 2003’s Overnight is a terrific look at the making of 1999’s The Boondock Saints. It involve director Troy Duffy butting heads regularly with Miramax, and the struggle to get the film made. The documentary helped spark interest in the original film and as such, in 2009 a sequel was made. That was called The Boondock Saints II: All Saint’s Day, and in the aftermath of that, questions were asked about whether there was plans for a third. Spoiler: there were. Duffy is joining forces again with actors Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus for The Boondock Saints III, and the plan is to shoot the film next spring. Funding work is underway at the American Film Market, and it’ll pick up – no spoilers – from where the last film left the characters. Troy Duffy will direct again, and we reckon we’re looking at a 2023 release for this one, possibly sneaking in at the end of 2022. As we hear more, we’ll let you know.
