Pig director Michael Sarnoski is working on adapting Adrian McKinty’s The Chain for TV. More on that project below.
We’ve still got a couple of weeks to wait for director Michael Sarnoski’s latest film, The Death Of Robin Hood, in which Hugh Jackman plays a very moody version of the character.
But for fans of the director’s work, there is more to look forward to. Deadline reports that the director will executive produce and direct the pilot of a TV adaptation of Adrian McKinty’s very popular 2019 novel The Chain. HBO is behind the project.
Damon Lindelof, the man behind shows such as Lost, Watchmen and The Leftovers, will be writing, executive producing and showrunning the programme. The series will consist of eight episodes in total.
The plot of the novel follows Rachel whose daughter is kidnapped and the only way to get her back is to pay the ransom and kidnap another child whose parents will then also be required to pay ransom and kidnap a child, continuing the horrifying chain.
Jodie Comer is set to star in the lead. She’s also starring in Sarnoski’s The Death Of Robin Hood. Comer will also star in Kenneth Branagh’s next film, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde and a musical body horror romance film Stuffed. We’re very curious about the latter. It sounds like Moulin Rouge! and The Substance had a baby and we’re eager to see what that baby looks like.
Sarnoski’s debut feature Pig received critical acclaim for its heartfelt portrayal of a man searching for his pig. His next feature, A Quiet Place: Day One, surpassed all expectations, both critically and financially. Sarnoski is also due to write and direct a movie adaptation of the Death Stranding game.
There’s no release window for The Chain quite just yet, but that info will surely follow sooner rather than later. We’ll keep you posted on that.
