Well, here’s a treat to look forward to. As had been previously announced, Diane Morgan is bringing Philomena Cunk back to the screen, for a three part series by the name of Cunk On Cinema. And the first trailer for the programme has landed.

We’ll cut to the chase and give you that first…

As per said trailer, the show is going to land on Thursday 12th November on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. All three episodes will drop in one go on iPlayer, whilst they’ll be screened weekly on BBC Two, through until 26th November.

Al Campbell has directed the series, which is written by Charlie Brooker, Ben Caudell, Erika Ehler, Eli Goldstone, Jason Hazeley, Dan Maier, Diane Morgan, Joel Morris, Michael Odewale, Kali Varghese, and Sam Ward. Brooker is heading up that writing team.

A fascinating array of guests are going to be sat in front of Morgan as she explores the world of the big screen. Who’d have ever thought we’d get Michael Bay and Mark Kermode on the same IMDB credit for a start, and throw in Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Pemberton and Steven E de Souza, and it sounds as though there’s quite the cocktail.

As per the blurb, ‘Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) will be asking experts all of the hard-hitting questions about the history of cinema, from the invention of the camera, to the New Wave filmmakers of the 60s, right up to the entrance of CGI and what the future of AI holds. Cunk will attempt to demystify it all while sitting in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking herself where did cinema come from? And why? What does it want? And why can’t it tell us?’
