Everyone’s favourite curmudgeon is back for a new animated adventure. Check out the new Garfield Movie trailer below:

Chris Pratt’s voice-acting agents have been busy. Six months after the Super Mario Bros Movie broke every box office expectation under the sun for Universal, Sony have decided they want a slice of the action – if that action is “Chris Pratt voices a cute character who spends time in an Italian restaurant” – with The Garfield Movie. Not to be confused with 2004’s Garfield: The Movie, which had Bill Murray in it.

Check out the Garfield Movie trailer below:

Starting with a young (and very cute) Garfield escaping from the drizzly interior of a wooden crate, the trailer quickly fast-forwards to our favourite tiny tiger in his prime – eating lasagna, railing against bath time, and delivering fourth-wall breaking monologues to camera.

Soon joined by his ludicrously large street cat father, Vic (Samuel L Jackson), Garfield must face his toughest challenge yet: jumping. Penned by Finding Nemo scribe David Reynolds and with Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein also in the cast, there’s plenty of talent in front of and behind the camera on this one.

The official synopsis reads as follows: “Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.”

We’re just glad Odie is getting his well-deserved time in the spotlight – he always did have excellent ears.

The Garfield Movie is expected to arrive in cinemas on 24th May 2024.
