The BBC will be offering more series of The Traitors from around the world, starting with season two of the Australian show.

This weekend, as those who have been avidly watching the show will know, marks the conclusion of The Traitors series two here in the UK. For most of January, a growing number of people have watched a bunch of contestants in a Scottish castle metaphorically stabbing each other in the back. Claudia Winkleman, meanwhile, watches and approves.

The format has sold around the world, and the BBC has already added the first seasons of The Traitors from the USA and Australia to its iPlayer service. The USA version is very celebrity-driven (heck, they’ve got former speaker of the House Of Commons, John Bercow, in season two), while the Australian version, which features regular folk, is great.

Now, as The Traitors wraps up for another year in the UK – and series three is already confirmed – the BBC has done a deal to bring more international flavours of the show to the iPlayer service.

As per an announcement that’s gone on today, The Traitors Australia series two will begin airing on BBC Three on Friday 26th January, with the entire run going as a boxset straight away on iPlayer.

Furthermore, the BBC has signed up season two of The Traitors USA as well, although it’s not provided a release date for that. It’s shot in the same location as the UK version, albeit with Alan Cumming – adopting an unusual accent – hosting the show.

The Traitors New Zealand’s first season is also coming to iPlayer, but again, that’s later in the year. They’re not giving away a release date for that yet either.

Dan McGolpin of the BBC gave some accompanying blurb for the announcement, declaring that “The Traitors is one of the most thrilling shows around and the BBC will be following up on the latest UK series with more from Australia, New Zealand and the US, with all of this treachery to be available across 2024 on BBC iPlayer”.

When we get release dates, we’ll let you know…
