A feature film about a creature popping pills whilst evading ghosts is on the way: Pac-Man is heading to the movies. Now that movies based on videogames have finally proven beyond doubt their box office worth, the executives of movie studios have been back down the arcades to see what else they can plunder. Pac-Man used to be a magnet for people’s coins, until it became one of those games designed to let people win tickets in the modern arcade. You know the thing: where you win ten tickets for absolutely smashing it, and then discover that those ten tickets won’t buy you the wrapper on a single sweet from behind the counter. Not an issue. Anyway, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios have decided that what the world needs is a live action Pac-Man film. So we’re getting one. We sort of saw what this might look like in the Adam Sandler-headlined Pixels a few years ago. Hopefully this will be an improvement. Chuck Williams, who worked on the Sonic The Hedgehog movie, came up with whatever idea they’re going with for the film. Not quite sure what that idea is, but consider us intrigued. More as we hear it. Frogger next?
