Creedā€™s Michael B Jordan will direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, and here are the details.

Since his star making performance in Ryan Cooglerā€™s 2013 drama Fruitvale Station, Michael B. Jordan has taken on an eclectic range of films. Heā€™s gone from starring opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvelā€™s Black Panther to headlining Sylvester Stalloneā€™s Rocky sequel Creed trilogy, making his directorial debut with 2023ā€™s Creed 3. A fourth Creed film is reportedly in development.

According to Deadline, Jordan has closed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios and Outlier Society to direct and star in a remake of classic thriller The Thomas Crown Affair ā€“ this would be the third take on the material, with the first emerging in 1968.

Drew Pearce has written the remakeā€™s script, rewriting a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which is based on the original film. Plot details are being kept under wraps, though itā€™ll likely follow the template set by the 1968 movie in any case. Casting is underway for Jordanā€™s female co-star.

The Thomas Crown Affair, written by Alan Trustman and produced and directed by Norman Jewison, was released in 1968. It starred Steve McQueen as the titular adrenaline junkie turned criminal mastermind who orchestrates a daring heist, opposite Faye Dunaway as headstrong investigator Vicki Anderson. Praised for its twist filled plot, the film also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Michel Legrandā€™s The Windmills of Your Mind.

A remake arrived in 1999, this time helmed by Die Hard director John McTiernan and written by Leslie Dixon and Kurt Wimmer. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo starred.

Jordan recently wrapped his latest collaboration with Coogler, an as yet untitled even film for Warner Bros. Little is known about the plot, except that itā€™s a gothic supernatural thriller written and directed by Coogler.

Heā€™s also set to star in the long awaited sequel to 2007 apocalyptic thriller I Am Legend, which will reunite him with Creed 2 director Steven Caple Jr.
