A24 ā the trendy film studio behind the likes of Civil War and The Iron Claw ā has released the trailer for A Different Man. The film stars Sebastian Stan and is being dubbed as a ādarkly comedic psychological thrillerā that sees Stan portraying Edward, an actor with neurofibromatosis. In the film, per its synopsis, āEdward undergoes a life-changing and radical medical procedure that radically alters his face. But his new dream face quickly turns into a nightmare, as he loses out on the role he was born to play and becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost.ā
Also in the cast is Adam Pearson, an actor who suffers from the face-altering condition in real-life. Pearson previously appeared opposite Scarlett Johansson in Jonathan Glazerās Under The Skin and starred as Rosenthal in 2018ās Chained For Life. Mason Wells, Owen Kline, Charlie Korsmo, Patrick Wang, and Michael Shannon also co-star alongside Stan and Pearson.

Stan reportedly spent around three hours in make-up each day to apply the prosthetics needed to play a man with neurofibromatosis. The actor most recently transformed himself into a 1980s-era Donald Trump in The Apprentice, a film which is currently still trying to iron out impediments to getting a US release, something the filmmakers are keen ensure happens before this yearās US elections in November.
As for A Different Man, the film is written and directed by Aaron Schimberg (who made the above-mentioned Chained For Life) and produced by Christine Vachon, Gabriel Mayers, and Vanessa McDonnell. It releases in the US on September 20th and surely wonāt be too far behind here in the UK. Hereās that trailer below.
