Gerard Butler does his thing in the trailer for Kandahar, his upcoming collaboration with the director of Greenland and Angel Has Fallen.

Following in the jet stream of the very satisfying Plane, Gerard Butler’s next action flick, Kandahar has been set for a May release date (in the US at least, a UK release date is still awaiting confirmation). Plane performed solidly at the box-office, beating original box office projections and was happily received by audiences, not to mention getting a sequel that practically named itself.)

Kandahar is helmed by Ric Roman Waugh and has been written by Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh, and ‘follows Tom Harris (Butler) who is an undercover CIA operative stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.’

The film is set to reunite Butler with Ric Roman Waugh, the director with whom he has previously collaborated with on Angel Has Fallen and the excellent Greenland. Now, we’ve got ourselves a full trailer to feast on and it’s pretty much exactly what you’d hope for. We’re on board for this so, check it out and enjoy your first look below, ahead of the film’s release in late May.
