New coming of age film Summering is said to evoke the spirit of Stand By Me, and we now have the trailer.
Stand By Me remains the gold standard by which many coming of age films are judged. Summering aims to deliver a similar experience in homage to the 1980s classic, but from a slightly different angle. The plot follows four girls as they navigate their final summer before they begin middle school. When they stumble upon a dead body, their bond will be tested as they work together to discover the truth about what happened.
The young protagonists are played by Madalen Mills, Sanai Victoria, Lia Barnett and Mari Eden Grace Redfield. The adult cast is made up of Lake Bell, Sarah Cooper, Ashley Madekwe, and Megan Mullally.
Directing is James Ponsoldt, who has form in this genre, having helmed 2013’s The Spectacular Now. Ponsoldt also co-wrote the script with Benjamin Percy.
Summering will be released in the US on 12th August, with a UK release date yet to be announced. Watch the trailer below…
