Action comedy Polite Society , from the creator of the TV show We Are Lady Parts, is hitting UK cinemas in April – here’s the trailer.

For anybody who has not yet had the pleasure, Channel 4’s We Are Lady Parts is a delightful sitcom that follows the members of an all-female Muslim punk band, which aired on Channel 4 last year.

Creator Nida Manzoor is now making her feature directorial debut with Polite Society.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

A London schoolgirl and tireless martial-artist-in-training, Ria Khan is determined to become a world-renowned stunt woman. She’s crushed when her big sister, Lena, drops out of art school, starts dating Salim — the charming, wealthy son of the prominent Shah family — and announces, after barely a month, that they plan to marry and move to Singapore! How could Lena abandon her artistic dreams to become some trophy wife? But Ria soon realizes that something isn’t right, leaving her no choice but to enlist her friends in a daring mission to kidnap Lena from her own wedding.

Priya Kansara stars as Ria, alongside Ritu Arya, Shobu Kapoor, Ella Bruccoleri, Seraphina Beh, Shona Babayemi, Nimra Bucha, Jeff Mirza and Akshay Khanna.

Manzoor writes and direct for Working Title Pictures, with Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Olivier Kaempfer, and John Pocock producing.

Polite Society is set for release in the UK on the 7th April 2023, watch the trailer below:
