Blue Jean is an LGBTQ story set in Thatcher’s Britain of the 1980s, and here’s the trailer.

Much like the wonderful PrideBlue Jean is an LGBTQ story set in 1980s Britain, except it approaches things from a slightly different angle.

The official synopsis for this one reads as follows:

England 1988 – Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government are about to pass a law stigmatising gays and lesbians, forcing Jean, a PE teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school catalyses a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.

Rosy McEwen headlines the film as Jean, alongside Kerrie Hayes, Lucy Halliday, Stacy Abalogun, and Izzy Neish.

Georgia Oakley makes her directorial debut, also penning the script. The film has already won four British Independent Film Awards, including Best Lead Performance and Best Debut Screenwriter.

Blue Jean will be released in UK cinemas on 10th February.
