Raucous antics abound in Joy Ride, a new film directed by the screenwriter of Crazy Rich Asians: here’s the trailer.
Everything, Everywhere All At Once sweeping the Oscars in a historic ceremony that helped to make it the most lauded film in history, with 158 awards across the season. Joy Ride also puts Asian actors front and centre, this time in a far bawdier comedy.
The official synopsis reads as follows…
The hilarious & unapologetically explicit story of identity & self-discovery centers on four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey’s (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the aid of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her irreverent, childhood best friend who also happens to be a hot mess; Kat (Stephanie Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap star; Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo’s eccentric cousin. Their no-holds-barred, epic travel experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are
Ronny Chieng, Desmond Chiam, Alexander Hodge, and Chris Pang are also in the cast for the movie. What’s more, Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim makes her directorial debut, working from a screenplay by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao.
Joy Ride will be released on the 7th July.
