Director David Slade’s latest horror film is Dark Harvest, and the trailer to it has landed. More here.

After directing several high profile music videos, David Slade burst onto the scene in 2005 with the terrific, unsettling and extremely hard to watch thriller Hard Candy. He reunited with writer Brian Nelson for vampire horror 30 Days Of Night, before helming his first big budget blockbuster Twilight: Eclipse.

He is returning to his horror roots for Dark Harvest, the synopsis reads as follows:

Every fall in a small Midwestern town, a supernatural specter rises from the cornfields and makes its way toward the town’s Church, where violent gangs of teenage boys hungrily await their chance to confront the legendary nightmare in an annual harvest rite of life and death. Richie Shepard lives in the shadow of his big brother who won last year’s Run and earned his ticket out. To prove himself and join his brother, Richie pairs up with Kelly Haines, a restless dreamer who will do whatever it takes to escape this dead-end town. Against the rules and odds, Richie & Kelly decide to hunt down the legendary nightmare to win the Run and their freedom, together.

Elizabeth Reaser and Jeremy Davies lead the cast, alongside Luke Kirby, Casey Likes and Emyri Crutchfield.

Slade directs from a screenplay by Michael Gilio, adapted from the novel by Norman Partridge.

Dark Harvest will be released on digital platforms on the 13th October.
