Idris Elba returns as detective John Luther in Netflix’s Luther: The Fallen Sun – and there’s an exciting new trailer.
Netflix has released a brand new trailer for Luther: The Fallen Sun – the feature length follow-up to the Idris Elba-led BBC series. Elba returns to the role of detective John Luther, except the former officer is now disgraced and behind bars. That is, until he goes rogue in order to catch a serial killer terrorising London.
Creator of the TV series, Neil Cross, wrote the screenplay and the movie is directed by long-time TV director Jamie Payne – who also helmed multiple episodes of Luther.
Among the cast are Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis, who looks to be having great fun as the film’s psychopathic villain. Dermot Crowley also returns as DSU Martin Schenk.
The trailer promises an action-packed and suspenseful time, with Luther again going to any lengths necessary to get the job done. Many people have said Idris Elba ought to play James Bond, but if that never happens then this doesn’t seem like a bad substitute.
Here’s the trailer:
Luther: The Fallen Sun will be in cinemas from 24th February and streaming on Netflix on 10th March.
