Steve Coogan is set to pit his talents against a penguin as The Penguin Lessons looks for buyers at the upcoming European Film Market.

Projects continue to appear ahead of the upcoming European Film Market, the latest being Steve Coogan having been announced as the star of The Penguin Lessons. The film is set to be directed by Peter Cattaneo, helmer of The Full Monty.

According to Deadlinethe project is looking at picking up sales for all territories, and considering it’s set to star a cute little penguin, we’re pretty sure that’s a given.

Coogan will co-star alongside said penguin as ‘a disillusioned Englishman who went to work in a school in Argentina in 1976. Expecting an easy ride, he discovered instead a complicated and divided nation – and a class of practically unteachable young boys. When he finds the small penguin washed up on an oil-slicked beach, his life is turned upside down – and the penguin becomes not only a valued friend, but also a teacher of life’s most important lessons, for Tom, the boys and many others.’

The project comes courtesy of production company Rocket Science who has plenty of other interesting projects launching at the EFM. There’s Alex Winter’s The Adults and Conor McPherson’s Girl From The North Country starring Olivia Colman and Woody Harrelson. Amazon Prime recently acquired Peter Farrelley’s Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron and John Cena, which is also a Rocket Science production. We’ll bring you more on The Penguin Lessons as we hear it.
