Mickey Mouse is the subject of a new documentary for Disney+, Mickey: The Story Of A Mouse, here’s the trailer.
Mickey Mouse is so entrenched in popular culture, ensconced in the Disney world and synonymous with the House of Mouse, it’s easy to forget how relatively low key his origins were.
Appearing in Steamboat Willie in the 1928, one of the first cartoons with sound, the character quickly took off and his popularity soared. Ten of his short films were nominated for an Academy Award, winning just one to date with 1941’s Lend A Paw.
Now, Mickey is the subject of his own documentary, unsurprisingly for Disney+. Mickey: The Story Of A Mouse will examine the creation of the character and how he became not just a part of popular culture, but an icon that came to symbolise one of the most powerful media properties in the history of the world.
The film will feature appearances from animators Eric Goldberg, Mark Henn and Randy Haycock, along with Floyd Norman, Carmenita Higginbotham, Rebecca Cline, and Kevin Kern.
Mickey: The Story of a Mouse will be released on the 18th November on Disney+.
