Guy Ritchie now has three films on the go, as he adds Cosmo Jarvis to a cast already boasting Rosamund Pike and Benedict Cumberbatch to Wife & Dog.
It’s been a year or so since the currently very prolific Guy Ritchie was revealed to be making a film called Wife & Dog. On top of the TV series of The Gentlemen, Ritchie has six films shot since 2020, from 2021’s Wrath Of Man through to this year’s Fountain Of Youth. He also has In The Grey currently in post-production as well, and has directed episodes of the upcoming TV show The Associate. Oh, and he’s making a young Sherlock Holmes show as well.
Wife & Dog has in its ensemble Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins, with Cosmo Jarvis just announced as well.
Ritchie has penned the script and well as taking on directing duties, and while plot details are rarer than a U-certificate Guy Ritchie film, it is set to be set in the present day, with upper class characters being unpleasant to each other.
There’s no official start date for the film announced, but given his track record of the last five years, there’s no indication that Ritchie will be hanging around. Funding was raised at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, when the suggestion was that the movie would be shooting in February 2025. Maybe that remains the case.
If so, by the time he’s wrapped production, it’s entirely feasible that Guy Ritchie will have three films in post-production at various stages, as well as two television series. Quite the level of output.
There is a Hollywood production in the background, with Ritchie long-linked with directing a ‘live action’ take on the animated hit Hercules for Disney (following his commercial success making Aladdin for the studio). Whether he can fit that into his ever-expanding schedule remains to be seen.
When we have release date news for Ritchie’s upcoming projects, then we’ll be able to take the day off, given we’ll have hit our news reporting quota for the day.
