Blumhouse and Universal have released a new trailer for their hairy horror, Wolf Man, out in January 2025.
Blumhouseās Wolf Man has gone through a lot of production changes. Director, Leigh Whannell came onto the project off the back off two remarkable films (Upgrade and The Invisible Man) before being replaced by Derek Cianfrance, probably because heās a regular collaborator of the filmās original star, Ryan Gosling. When Gosling left, replaced by Christopher Abbott, Whannell stepped back in.
We already got a teaser trailer back in September, but with the filmās January release edging ever closer, Universal has dropped another trailer for the film, this time revealing glimpses of the body horror to come. Itās not even a full moon right now, so we suppose it makes sense that we still havenāt fully seen the creature. Wolf Man stars Julia Garner, Christopher Abbott, Sam Jaeger and Matilda Firth and was recently dubbed by Whannell as a āstraight up horror movie.ā
The film will take Blumhouseās traditional January opening slot.
Hereās the synopsis:
Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, It Comes at Night) stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Emmy winner Julia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth; Hullraisers, Coma)
But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.
Wolf Man releases in UK cinemas on the 17th January 2025. Hereās that trailer we promised:
