Johnny will be back to slash, stab and wreak havoc in the horror sequel In A Violent Nature 2, now heading into production.
Chris Nash’s In A Violent Nature was one of the most ambitious and intriguing genre films of 2024. Taking a page out of Gus Van Sant’s book, the ambient slasher was filmed mostly from the point of view of Johnny, the film’s brutal killer, observing him as he attacked one victim after another.
We learned in July 2024 that In A Violent Nature was due to get a sequel and now, almost a year later, we finally have some more news on that front.
Variety reports that In A Violent Nature 2 is set to begin production in Canada this September. Plot details haven’t been shared, but we’re willing to bet Johnny is up to no good again. Nash is writing the script and while he’s expected to return to the director’s chair, that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
We sat down with Nash last year to chat about In A Violent Nature and couldn’t resist asking him if there was a chance that Johnny would follow in Jason Voorhees’ footsteps and eventually head into space. Or somewhere really exotic, like Manhattan.

“It would really be fun, if we were to go wild with this character,” Nash told us. “And the whole concept of applying a real art school mentality towards slasher films, sending him to all these different locations would be wild.”
We doubt Johnny is quite ready to take New York, but never say never. The real challenge for the sequel is to somehow match that fantastic kill involving a hook from the first film.
We’ll keep you updated on Johnny’s next move.
