Pixar’s next film is Elemental, and it’s heading into cinemas too. Here’s the new trailer for the film.
Few would argue that Pixar has one of the most impressive filmographies of any studio. From Toy Story and its sequels through WALL-E, Up and Inside Out, amongst many, many others.
Elemental is Pixar’s next exercise in making both children and adults cry, and the official synopsis for it reads as follows:
Disney and Pixar’s Elemental is an all-new, original feature film set in Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in. Element City is inspired by big cities around the globe, embracing theorized contributions from each elemental community: giant pine-tree-like buildings and waterfall skyscrapers to a tornado-shaped arena called Cyclone Stadium.
Peter Sohn, who previously made The Good Dinosaur and the short Partly Cloudy, directs from a screenplay by John Hoberg, Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh. Pete Docter and Denise Ream produced the film, while Thomas Newman composed the music.
The short film attached to Elemental will pick up the story of Carl from Up in Carl’s Date. Still voiced by the late Ed Asner, Carl’s Date will see Dug the dog emotionally support Carl as he prepares to go on a date. The first ten minutes of Up are notable as being one of the most emotional and heartrending scenes Pixar has ever made, so a return to that world is very exciting. Bob Peterson, who voices Dug, wrote and directed the short. According to Peterson, Carl’s Date was originally due to be released on Disney+ along with Dug Days, another series of short films, but it was decided to attach it to Elemental after the passing of Asner.
Elemental will be released in UK cinemas on the 16th June.

Soul, Luca and Turning Red have all largely been buried on Disney+, but why? As always, we've had some thoughts.
Pixar has long been at the forefront of American mainstream animation. The studio ushered in the era of CG animation with its debut feature Toy Story, intelligently explored darker themes of loss in Up, and helped [...]
Actor Warwick Davis has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from Willow, which was deleted from Disney+ last year. And he’s not very happy about it either.
Disney+ started deleting its own content in 2023. A lot of great films and TV shows were axed and aren’t available anywhere else, which feels thoroughly unfair for the people involved [...]
Over a decade and change since Tron: Legacy, the trailer for Tron: Ares suggests the franchise might be on track.
After showing a five minute sneak peek at CinemaCon last week that was exclusively for those in attendance, Disney has now released the first trailer for Tron: Ares. Directed by Young Woman And The Sea filmmaker [...]
