Film Quiz Friday: What’s Your Favourite Scary Movie?

It’s almost Halloween and that means 30 questions about spooky doings on screen, including the return of the dreaded title mashup game!

We were working in the lab late one night and we’ve come up with another Halloween-themed edition of Film Quiz Friday. This time around, subjects include horror franchises, the works of Tim Burton, and a wide array of spooky movie mashups, like the ones in our Valentine’s special.

Once you’ve completed all 30 questions, you’ll find a link to a separate post with the correct answers at the bottom of this post. As always, this is just for fun, but please let us know how you did in the comments (scores out of 30 this week!) and give us any other lovely feedback. If you’re really pushing the boat out on spooky season, here are the 2020 and 2021 editions to play solo or with your fellow Halloweeners.

ROUND ONE – The Tim Burton Round

ROUND TWO – Monster Mashups

Oh dear, we’ve added a bit of horror into some non-horror movies by grafting titles together. Here are some phoney movie synopses we made up to cover our tracks – can you name the new nightmares we’ve created from bits of two different films?

11. Lindsay Lohan swaps bodies with Jason Voorhees’ vengeful mother.
12. Elisabeth Moss can’t see a New York-set romance with Woody Allen happening.
13. Jamie Lee Curtis has her high-school dance filmed by a sociopathic local news reporter.
14. Monster hunter Hugh Jackman invents a school band to impress a girl.
15. The young Waterburys move to the countryside and slaughter all the town’s adults for harvest reasons.
16. Six women are trapped underground with a blind, scenery-chewing Al Pacino.
17. Saying “Creasy” five times in front of a mirror makes Denzel Washington turn up and kill everyone.
18. Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr sing and taunt teenaged killers, one year later.
19. Meryl Streep is forever young, but her family line is part of an ancient witch coven.
20. Bruce Campbell finds absolutely no joy in reading but seizes the day anyway.

 

ROUND THREE – Spooky Sequels
