Six more Columbia films are bundled together for Columbia Classics Volume 4. Here’s what’s coming to the 4K disc format:

2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Columbia Pictures, and I for one am hoping its centenary celebrations go a bit better than Warner Bros’ and Disney’s this year.

One part of them will be a celebration of Columbia’s archive of films, and that’s going to include the fourth volume in its deluxe Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray boxsets.

Already announced in America, we now have the confirmation that Columbia Classics Volume 4 is coming to the UK as well. It’s gone up for preorder with a release date of March 4th 2024.

You can find the listing and more information right here.

As per the norm for these sets, you’re getting 4K discs of six different Columbia films. In this case, the movies chosen are Punch-Drunk Love, Sleepless In Seattle, Starman, Kramer Vs Kramer, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner and His Girl Friday.

The discs come loaded down with extra features as well, and there’s a posh book included as part of the set.

Given that Columbia has not made a habit of releasing the individual films from these sets as standalone discs, it’s fair to assume that the only way to get all these movies on 4K disc for the short to medium term future is to invest in the collection. As you might expect, the set does attract a premium price tag: at the point this article is being written, the asking price is £130.

You’d need to want a fair few of the films involved to justify that kind of money, although you probably worked that out for yourself.

As more titles are released and announced for Columbia’s 100th birthday we’ll let you know. For now though, Columbia Classics Volume 4 is available for order in the UK.
