The infamous Prince Andrew interview is being dramatised for Amazon Prime, and here are the details.

Michael Sheen has played a plethora of people over the course of his career, from David Frost to Chris Tarrant. Now, he’s playing Prince Andrew, and presumably denying himself the ability to sweat as part of his preparation for the role.

This will centre on the infamous interview that certainly did the awareness of Pizza Express a fair amount of good. If not for the reasons it might have wanted.

According to the official description, A Very Royal Scandal follows “Emily Maitlis’ professional and personal journey as a Newsnight journalist, leading up to her acclaimed interview with Prince Andrew.”

Ruth Wilson stars as Maitlis in the production, alongside Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young and Éanna Hardwicke as Stewart Maclean.

Mrs Brown writer Jeremy Brock penned the series, which is being directed by Julian Jarrold. It forms a loose thematic trilogy with Amazon’s past success with Russell T Davies’ A Very English Scandal and Sarah Phelps’ A Very British Scandal.

The three part drama will be released next year, and filming is already underway on the show. It’s being produced and shot in the UK.
