Famke Janssen takes the lead in Netflix thriller Locked In, and the first trailer for the film has just landed.

Netflix’s next original thriller is called Locked In, which is now just under a month away from release. As such, the publicity machine has been cranked up, hence why we’re all gathering here today.

Let’s start first of all with the synopsis, which reads as follows:

A romantic crime thriller pitting unhappy newlywed Lina (Rose Williams) against her rich, coldhearted mother-in-law Katherine (Famke Janssen). An affair then sets off a chain reaction that will result in a love triangle, a murder and even plot to bring Lina down. But who is the real victim and who can Lina trust?

A thriller about a villainous mother-in-law? Les Dawson would have absolutely loved this one. Netflix thrillers have a strangely forgettable quality at times (we definitely saw Fractured and Intrusion, but our memories of them are hazy at best), but the streaming giant is also capable of throwing out the odd gem, like Uncut Gems. Let’s hope Locked In is more like the latter.

Nour Wazzi makes her feature directorial debut, while Locked In’s screenplay is by Rowan Joffe, the creator of TV’s Tin Star and writer (or co-writer) of such films as 28 Weeks Later and Anton Corbijn’s brooding, underrated thriller, The American. (Fun fact: Rowan Joffe is the son of Roland Joffe, the director and producer of such films as The Killing Fields and The Mission.)

Janssen and Williams star alongside Anna Friel, Finn Cole and Alex Hassell.

Locked In will stream on Netflix from the 1st November.
