Children Of Men director Alfonso Cuarón is reportedly planning a strange alternate history take on the science-fiction author’s life.

Alfonso Cuarón is reportedly putting together a strange take on the life of Philip K Dick for his next project, with the story said to be a suspenseful and darkly funny take that reimagines Dick’s life in a rather strange fashion.

According to World of Reel, the film will be ‘based on the personal life of science-fiction author Phillip K. Dick, “Jane” will tell the fictional relationship between Dick and his twin sister Jane, who died six weeks after birth.’ The plot will be ‘about a woman’s unique relationship with her brilliant, but troubled twin, who also happens to be the celebrated novelist Philip K. Dick. While attempting to rescue her brother from predicaments both real and imagined, Jane plunges deeper and deeper into a fascinating world of his creation.’

The premise sounds pretty out there, but given that it’s in the hands of a gifted storyteller like Cuarón, we’re intrigued to see where this goes. Charlize Theron is set to star, which only adds to the feeling that this could be something special. The project is set to shoot this autumn, according to the report.

The project will mark Cuarón’s first foray into feature-length filmmaking since 2018’s Roma. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
