Fede Alvarez’s Alien film has rounded out the cast, with production set to get underway before the end of the week.

Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez’s take on Alien is close to going before the cameras, as the first new film in the saga since Alien: Covenant is about to start shooting. What’s more,  casting has been announced.

Alongside the previously announced lead Cailee Spaeny will be David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu. Isabella Merced was also confirmed to be joining the ensemble.

Plot details are sparse, other than the fact that it will now focus on a group of young people as opposed to militaristic types, and that it will of course follow their fight with the titular Xenomorph.

Alvarez directs from a script he co-wrote with regular collaborator Rodo Sayagues. Original director Ridley Scott is producing via his Scott Free banner along with the company’s Michael Pruss.

Alien will begin production on the 9th March in Budapest, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
