The 1970s double bill of The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers is making its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut: more here.

I’ve never actually had the pleasure of this particular pair of films, and looking forward to seeing them for the first time. They are The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers, the back-to-back undertakings that producers Alexander and Illya Salkind tackled before embarking on the Superman movies.

Both directed by Richard Lester – who would be recruited to take over Superman II – the adventures star Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain, Faye Dunaway and Charlton Heston.

They also have a place in cinema history as even though they were shot back-to-back, the actors weren’t told that they were making two films. Legal shenanigans ensued to make sure such a situation couldn’t arise again.

The films both land on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time on April 24th 2023. You can find more information on The Three Musketeers here, and more on The Four Musketeers here.
