Production is set to get underway on the second of four Horizon movies, directed by Kevin Costner, with the first now in post-production.

Kevin Costner is returning to movie directing for the first time since 2003’s superb Open Range – and he’s doing it in some style. He’s been putting together his brand new western Horizon, only the plan is for not just one film, but four.

The first movie started shooting last year and is now in post-production. Now though, Costner is set to embark on filming for the second chapter, which is due to shoot in Utah this spring. Further casting is underway for the next film, and then the idea is to get the next two movies filmed fairly swiftly thereafter.

All the while, Costner still has commitments to the TV show Yellowstone, with the back end of the latest season yet to be filmed. There’s been a lot of noise in the trade press about that in recent weeks, but it seems the plan is to press ahead with that as soon as possible too.

No release dates have been announced for the Horizon films as of yet. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
