Angelina Jolie to star as soprano in Maria

Angelina Jolie will star as soprano singer Maria Callas in Maria, and here are the first details of the film. Angelina Jolie will tackle a very different kind of role to recent films like Eternals and Those Who Wish Me Dead in her next project. And it looks like she’s going to be belting out a tune or two. Maria will “will tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris”. Jolie will star as Maria Callas in the production, with further casting to be announced. Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín will direct from a screenplay by Steven Knight. Larrain has form in biopics, having recently helmed Spencer, which was also written by Knight, and Jackie. Maria will begin filming soon, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
