Amid a host of spin-offs, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of The Conjuring franchise, with a fourth film in the series currently being scripted. New Line Cinema has reportedly hired David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to pen another instalment in the mainline series of The Conjuring. This will mark the fourth film in the franchise to bear the Conjuring title, whilst spin-off series such as The Nun and Annabelle continue to bring in plenty of revenue for New Line as well and maintain the franchise’s high profile. Johnson-McGoldrick is no stranger to the series, having penned the second and third entries. Whilst it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the paranormal investigator characters of Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, are expected to return. James Wan and Peter Safran will produce, as they usually do. The production becomes the second Conjuring project that we know is in development right now, as filming on The Nun 2 is currently underway. As for Johnson-McGoldrick, he continues to be in demand, having previously penned Aquaman and having delivered a draft for a Flash sequel to Warner Bros last year (not sure we’d hold our breath for that one until some recasting has been done). We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
