Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller are the lead actors in the latest planned collaboration between Apple Studios and Skydance Media.  Both Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller are riding high right now. Taylor-Joy is in the midst of an impressive string of films that has seen her stock continue to rise and rise. She can currently be seen in the ensemble for David O Russell’s Amsterdam and will star opposite Ralph Fiennes in the soon-to-release The Menu. There’s also the small matter of her lead turn in George Miller’s upcoming Furiosa, the prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Likewise, coming off the back of the meteoric success of Top Gun: Maverick, Miles Teller is also in demand. In what seems like a smart bit of casting then, Apple and Skydance have recruited the duo for The Gorge, another planned collaboration between the two companies which has been engineered as part of Apple’s first-look deal with Skydance. This collaboration has already brought us a slate that includes The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Ghosted and The Family Man.  As far as The Gorge goes, the project is described ‘as a high-action, genre-bending love story’ which certainly sounds like fun to us. The film will be helmed by Scott Derrickson, who directed The Black Phone which released earlier this year and just yesterday, Derrickson was announced as being one of the filmmakers contributing to the upcoming V/H/S/85, the latest entry in the horror series anthology. Everything seems to be in place here for an entertaining watch, although we wonder if this project might merit some kind of theatrical release when it finally arrives. We’ll bring you further details on The Gorge as we hear them.
