AppleTV+ is officially bringing back Jason Sudeikis as everyone’s favourite football coach for Ted Lasso season 4.

There’s not a whole lot of good news going around these days. We’re living through some very depressing times, but if your life has been missing a certain kind of positive attitude and puns, there’s a glimmer of hope in the future.

AppleTV+ is officially bringing back Ted Lasso for season 4. The season has been hinted at multiple times and in November 2024, Phil Dunster confirmed a new season of the football comedy drama was being written, but it’s now official.

Jason Sudeikis will return to his role as the titular coach of AFC Richmond, who departed dear ol’ England at the end of season 3 to return to America. There’s not much to say plot-wise about Ted Lasso season 4, but perhaps Ted’s just missing proper chips and sausage rolls too much and returns to England?

“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,” Sudeikis said in a statement, via Variety here. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

There’s no confirmation on which cast members may or may not return, but we do know Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift have been linked to the new season. Goldstein is also writing the new season as well as executive producing it.
Speaking to New Heights podcast, Sudeikis revealed that Ted is coming back to coach a women’s team this time around, which is certainly a welcome change.

Apple hasn’t given the new season any kind of release window yet, but we’ll keep you updated on that.
