Godzilla returns in the first full trailer for Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters, which hits AppleTV+ in November.

There are a lot of downsides to the streaming era. Cinemas are struggling (boo!) and cinema has just turned into “content” (bigger boo!).

But we’re also getting a full blown Godzilla TV show so, all in all, things are looking up.

AppleTV+ has unveiled a new trailer for Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters today at New York Comic Con, which gives us a pretty good look at some of those monsters as well as the big, bad lizard itself.

Take a look at the Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters trailer below.

They were called MUTOs in Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and later on Titans, so we’re a little unsure what the correct terminology is here. But we’re sure that this looks epic!

The series is set in the 1950s and the 2010s. The 2010s events are set after Godzilla but before Godzilla: King Of Monsters. The TV show might give us some more clues about how the modern Monarch came to have so much information on these Titans.

Here’s the official synopsis: “Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that levelled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.

Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.”

That’s right: father and son Wyatt and Kurt Russell both play the role of Lee Shaw, albeit in different time periods, which is a stroke of genius as far as casting choices go. John Goodman also reprises his role from Kong: Skull Island, which should really draw the entire MonsterVerse together.

A film sequel to Godzilla Vs. Kong is also in the works and is supposedly coming out in 2024. It remains to be seen if AppleTV+, Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures eventually want to follow in Marvel’s footsteps in creating a huge cinematic universe that covers both films and TV.

You can catch Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters on AppleTV+ from 17th November.
