Avatar: The Way Of Water sets streaming date on Disney+, although Disney remains coy about its eventual disc release.
Given that Avatar: The Way Of Water is the third highest grossing film of all time, surpassed only by Avengers: Endgame and James Cameron’s own Avatar, it is perhaps unsurprising that the studio is making sure it stays in cinemas for as long as possible to wring all possible revenue out of it. The home release, thus, continues to roll out, as Disney has confirmed its streaming debut.
There has not yet been confirmation as to whether a director’s cut will be made to allow for the film to be re-released in cinemas as Avatar was, but it’s likely a question of when, not if.
Avatar: The Way Of Water will land on Disney+ on the 7th June and will be accompanied by bonus content featuring filmmakers, cast and crew. Avatar 3, meanwhile, is set to be released on the 20th December 2024.
We await word of a DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release for Avatar: The Way Of Water though: we understanding that it’s coming, but no announcement has thus far been made.
