Tragic news: Hayden Panettiere has died at the age of just 36, it’s been confirmed by her representatives.
Like many of you, we’re waking up to the terrible and tragic news that Hayden Panettiere has passed over the weekend, at the age of just 36. Appreciating she did a hell of a lot with those 36 years, that’s still a life way, way too short.
Her passing was confirmed in a statement issued by her representative. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen”, it wrote.
Her cause of death hasn’t been announced or confirmed, and we have no intention of sticking our nose in to find out more there.
Instead, amidst the absolute shock, just an appreciation for a life full of screen work. For many, she rose to prominence in the TV series Heroes, which back in the day was a huge, huge deal. It was primarily television where she enjoyed most of her acting success.
But for us movie nerds too, she’s left some terrific work behind, primarily her recurring role in the Scream saga. Cast by the late Wes Craven as Kirby Reed in his final movie, Scream 4, she’d go on to reprise the character across two further films (she’s pictured here in Scream VI.)
Her final movie, Sleepwalker, arrived at the start of the year, and saw her also take on an executive producer role on the production.
She’s survived by her daughter, who maybe one day will get to read the outpouring of affection and her appreciation for her mum. Inevitably, our thoughts of with her at the moment, as well as Panettiere’s family and friends.
It’s rotten news, though. Utterly horrible.
Rest in peace, Hayden Panettiere. You leave such an extensive body of work and loved roles.
