Andrew Onwubolu is set to make his feature directorial debut with the film version of Blue Story.

The hugely popular YouTube series Blue Story, from Rapman, is heading to the movies, it’s been revealed.

The rights to the series have been picked up by a combination of DJ Films, Joi Productions and BBC Films. Andrew Onwubolu (also known as Rapman) is to write and direct the movie version of Blue Story, that originally debuted on YouTube back in 2014.

Onwubolu will also star in the movie, alongside Stephen Odubola, Micheal Ward, Khali Best, Max Finchan, Kadeem Ramsay, Karla-Simone Spence and Eric Kofi-Abrefa. The film will tell the story of two young boys who are good friends, but find themselves in conflict thanks to coming from differing postcodes – postcodes that are at the heart of a street war.

The movie is going to film in south London, and Paramount Pictures has already snapped up the world rights to it.

More as we hear it.
