Brendan Fraser’s very welcome career renaissance continues as he scores another major part, this time opposite Leslie Grace in Batgirl.

The ‘Frasergence’ (sorry) is continuing, with the news that Brendan Fraser has been cast in the villain role for the planned Batgirl film.

Fraser, who has been out of the acting limelight for a few years now, is now picking up a string of roles, following a more low-key return to the small screen in the TV show, The Affair a few years back.

One of the most fun elements of Steven Soderbergh’s recent crime thriller, No Sudden Move, was seeing Brendan Fraser returning to movies for a start. The actor is also working with Martin Scorsese on the upcoming Killers Of The Flower Moon and is also leading the cast for Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which was announced back in January.

Batgirl is due to debut at some point in 2022, with the film scheduled to land on the HBO Max platform in the US. JK Simmons also stars as Commissioner Gordon, with Bad Boys For Life's Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directing from a script penned by Birds Of Prey’s Christina Hodson. More as we hear it.
