Comedy duo Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer have been developing The Glove since 2018 – now Succession actor Brian Cox joins the cast.

The duo of Vic Reeves (real name Jim Moir) and Bob Mortimer have been a staple of British comedy since the 80s, but only now are they preparing to shoot their debut comedy film.

The Glove has been in development since 2018, and will finally enter principal photography in the UK during the spring of next year. If that’s not enough good news for you, there’s more. Succession actor Brian Cox has also joined the film, with more casting announcements expected shortly.

Written by Jim Moir and Bob Mortimer, The Glove is described as a “mad-cap road movie across England” as Reeves and Mortimer go off in search of an “elusive piece of celebrity memorabilia.”

Directing the movie is BAFTA winning filmmaker Tim Kirkby, who’s known for Action Point as well as TV comedies Veep and Fleabag. Of his role on the film, the director said “it is an absolute thrill and a lifelong dream to be bringing the hugely influential comedy TV legends Vic and Bob’s surreal and exceptional humour to the big screen.  The Glove is a bizarre road trip, one from the heart for the legions of loyal fans.  Expect sublime cinematic doses of silliness and one very special glove.”

The film will be distributed by Altitude in the UK, but there’s no sign of a release date yet. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for further announcements.
