Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman star in festive thriller Carry-On, which will stream on Netflix in December. Here’s the trailer:
The debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas film? Well, it’s all a bit done and dusted now. Still, Christmas films skewing older is becoming more and more of a thing. This is a good time to recommend 2022 action comedy Violent Night, featuring David Harbour as Father Christmas beating up a house full of terrorists. Wholesome family fun.
Two more expensive festive films are heading our way this year.
The first is Red One, a big budget blockbuster that sees the great JK Simmons don the beard to play Santa. The plot follows Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans as they are dispatched to retrieve him after he is kidnapped. The film reunites Johnson with Jumanji director Jake Kasdan and Fast And Furious writer Chris Morgan. It will be released in UK cinemas on the 6th November. Here’s the trailer for it…
The second is Carry-On which, despite the title, is not a modern reimagining of the innuendo-laden comedy franchise, but rather an action thriller starring Taron Egerton.
The cast also includes Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Logan Marshall-Green, Dean Norris and Sinqua Walls.
The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay by TJ Fixman, with rewrites by Michael Green.

Every holiday season, millions travel safely by air. This Christmas will be different.” A young TSA agent (Egerton) fights to outsmart a mysterious traveler (Jason Bateman) who blackmails him into letting a dangerous package slip onto a Christmas Eve flight.
Carry-On will stream on Netflix from the 13th December.
