Without Remorse starring Michael B Jordan

Michael B Jordan will return as John Clark for the sequel to 2021ā€™s Without Remorse.

2021ā€™s Without Remorse came and went without making too much of an impact on audiences. The action thriller starred Michael B Jordan as John Clark, the Tom Clancy-created special forces operative who set out to avenge his wifeā€™s murder.

The film was serviceable but certainly didnā€™t set the world alight, with Paramount displaying a lack of confidence in the movie by offloading it to Amazon, admittedly at a time when such practices were becoming the norm.

Still, the studio knows that it has a valuable combination on its hands in the form of Tom Clancyā€™s enduringly-popular source material and Michael B Jordanā€™s star power. As such, Paramount has commissioned a sequel to the film which will this time be heading to cinemas.

To that end, the studio have recruited one of the highest-profile action directors in Hollywood to replace the outgoing Stefano Sollima. Chad Stahelski will be coming in to helm Rainbow Six, the codename for the Clancy-created fictional anti-terrorism special forces team will also be the filmā€™s title. The team name is probably most widely-known for being a long-running and popular video game series that is ostensibly based on Clancyā€™s books, although that hasnā€™t really been true for many a year.

The ongoing success of Ubisoftā€™s Rainbow Six video game series means that Paramount has a clear eye on bringing in a wider audience for this one, and despite Without Remorse's limp reception, may well have been buoyed by the strong performance of other video game adaptations such as 2022ā€™s Uncharted.

As for Stahelski, he has a pretty full plate with the director currently attached to projects such as Black Samurai, Shibumi, Classified and the long-gestating Highlander remake.

Where this one fits in, we donā€™t yet know but we have a feeling it will be leapfrogging at least some of those projects. Perhaps Stahelskiā€™s crowded to-do list will make more sense in the wake of the soon-to-release John Wick Chapter 4. Weā€™ll let you know more as we hear it.
