The highly-praised young actor Emilia Jones will star in the upcoming whistleblower thriller Winner, from the writer of Booksmart. Emilia Jones, whose star is shining very brightly following the success of last year’s Coda, is set to lead the cast of Winner, a take on the whistleblower thriller genre that is being directed by Susanna Fogel. Fogel hasn’t been short of acclaim either, given that she was a writer on the hit 2019 comedy, Booksmart. Winner is based on a true story and will follow Reality Winner, ‘a young but brilliant misfit from Texas who finds her morals challenged while serving in the U.S. Air Force and the NSA as a contractor. Eventually, she’ll leak an intelligence report concerning Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.’ Winner is an independent production, having been put together by ShivHans Pictures and 1Community. Zach Galifianakis will play Reality’s father whilst American Horror Story’s Connie Britton will play her mother. Kathryn Newton, one of the MCU’s newly-minted superheroes, will also appear. There’s no release date yet slated for this one, but it certainly looks promising and you can be sure that we’ll let you know more as we hear it.
