Sydney, Australia-based comedy series Colin From Accounts was one of the most delightful surprises of last year. The real life husband and wife team of Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall crafted a beautiful tale of human connection underpinned by a playful sense of humour and the kind of chemistry that can only exist between a real life couple. The plot saw Dyer play Ashley, who flashes Brammell’s Gordon in the street, which causes him to run over a border terrier. Forced to care for the poor mutt, the pair christen the pooch Colin from Accounts and, over the course of the series, gradually develop a relationship. Flying under the radar at first, the comedy soon grew in popularity through word of mouth, and a second series was confirmed earlier this year. However, work on the scripts had to be put on hold, as Brammall is a member of the Writers Guild of America, and Dyer was unable to work as it could impact her ability to join in the future. Now the strike is over, production is due to begin in Sydney soon. This, we’d argue, is splendid news. Series one of Colin From Accounts is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, the BBC have bought the rights to air series two. If you haven’t caught up with that eight-episode first series yet, consider this a hearty recommendation. Chortle
