Millie Bobby Brown’s latest star turn for Netflix is Damsel, a fantasy action adventure that arrives in just a few months.

Thanks to Netflix now choosing to release viewing hours for all of its film and TV programming, we now know that between January and June of this year, the YA take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s collection of detective tales, Enola Holmes 2, racked up over 30m hours worth of viewing. That places the film somewhere in Netflix’s top 600, but doesn’t account for the initial (and presumably huge) viewership spike when the film first launched (since it released in November of 2022).

Enola Holmes 2 was led by Millie Bobby Brown, who continues to be a major part of the streaming platform’s plans.

Not only have we heard talk of a third entry in the Elona Holmes series of films reportedly on the way, but Brown will also return for a fifth season of Stranger Things (67th place on the list – okay, we’ll stop now – we’re clearly getting carried away). Before all of that though, the actor is also set to headline the soon-to-release Damsel.

The synopsis for this one reads as follows:

‘The damsel of the title who is enlisted to marry a prince and agrees to do it, but she later finds out that she’s actually been chosen as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. If that wasn’t bad enough, the damsel is thrown in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and will have to fend for herself if she wants to make it out alive.’

The two key collaborators behind the camera are Oscar-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) and screenwriter Dan Mazeau.

Both are on the comeback trail of sorts, with Fresnadillo directing a film for the first time since 2011’s Intruders whilst Mazeau’s last screenplay credit was 2012’s Wrath Of The Titans.

Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Shoreh Aghdashloo, Nick Robinson, and Brooke Carter co-star.

Netflix has now announced that Damsel will be hitting our screens on March 8th, 2024.

In the meantime, here’s the debut trailer for Damsel
