American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules has added Danny Trejo to its ensemble – more details on the movie right here.

After the series was relaunched on the big screen with American Wedding back in 2003, the plan going forward at that time was for the American Pie franchise to continue in cinemas. A full American Pie 5 was in the works, but over time, enthusiasm for the project clearly petered out.

Instead, over the last year or two, Universal opted to go back to the string of straight to DVD spin-off movies, and filming was completed on a new one by the name of American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules last year.

What was known at the time was that the ensemble featured Clint Howard, Lizze Broadway, Sara Rue, Madison Pettis and Barry Bostock. The script was penned by Blayne Weaver and David H Steinberg, and that one of the characters in the movie is 18-year old Stephanie Stifler.

Mike Elliot (The Scorpion King 4, Beethoven’s Big Break) has directed the feature.

Now we learn that the mighty Danny Trejo is part of the ensemble for the film, too. Trejo filmed a role as the school janitor of East Great Falls High, where the new film is set.

The plan is to launch the movie on digital platforms and DVD later this year. As we hear more about a release date, we’ll let you know…
